About Us

We are an interdisciplinary research group, Ultrafast Terahertz Spectroscopy and Photonics (UTSP), at JNCASR Bangalore. Topics in our group unify and push new directions in condensed matter physics, ultrafast dynamics, photonics, and quantum topological material science. We are primarily interested in unveiling the fundamental properties of emerging quantum materials using ultrafast terahertz spectroscopy. Interrogating the quantum materials using ultrafast spectroscopy techniques offer unique observables and capabilities to address some of the most pressing challenges in quantum materials. This spans from gaining a fundamental understanding of light–electron and light–spin interactions to unveiling hidden orders in equilibrium or excited states through unconventional light–matter interactions.

Our research themes broadly cover two aspects of terahertz science and technology with a specific focus on (a) Spectroscopic Investigation of emerging quantum materials and (b) Micro-Nano photonics for disruptive applications.
